These Are the Biggest Aesthetic and Cosmetic Trends of 2021
Whether you have a standing appointment for aesthetic treatments like Botox or dermal fillers or you’re curious about cosmetic surgery, there’s no denying the increasing popularity of cosmetic and aesthetic treatments as we head into 2021. Check out the six procedures and trends we expect to be huge in the coming year.
More Personalization With Skin Treatments
Fueled by Instagram filters and the reality that people are wearing less makeup and paying more attention to their natural skin, patients are looking for treatments that provide smoother, glowing skin. But what’s becoming increasingly popular is the customization aspect of this. Skin treatments are no longer one-size-fits-all.
At MSpa, we’ve been treating patients with tailored and multi-step facial combinations from the very beginning. Our aestheticians also anticipate a rise in exfoliating and resurfacing treatments like microneedling and chemical peels, as more patients work from home (providing more opportunity to recover inside).
Combination Plastic Surgery Procedures
Have you been considering plastic surgery in recent years? Whether you’re concerned about your abdomen, breasts, arms or any other area, know that combination plastic surgery procedures have risen in popularity over the years (as a result of safer anesthesia and quicker operating room times). In 2021, some combinations, like the Mommy Makeover (which classically involves a combination of a tummy tuck and breast surgery) will become especially compelling as they often make more sense for both safety and recovery. And while the Mommy Makeover is a common moniker for a combo procedure that addresses areas affected by pregnancy, variations can include a full tummy tuck, mini tuck, a breast lift, reduction or augmentation.
The Next Generation of Injectables
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that more patients are seeking injectable treatments after a full year of loungewear and letting their skin be the star of the show. Luckily, one of the first major innovations to dermal fillers in 10 years entered the U.S. market in 2020. The RHA (Resilient Hyaluronic Acid) Collection is a line of injectables (now available at Majewski Plastic Surgery and Spa!) that’s designed to offer a youthful complexion, specifically when making facial expressions—so there’s no frozen face here.
RHA formulations integrate into the face to provide a softer, more natural result, so they look equally as good at rest as in motion. These fillers can provide everything from superficial smoothing, lip plumping and filling soft wrinkles around the mouth to deeper lines like nasolabial folds or those in the lower face.
Laser Resurfacing
Treating hyperpigmentation is no longer a post-summer seasonal treatment--it’s here to stay. If your at-home skincare isn’t tackling your dark spots, age spots, sunspots, melasma and more, consider laser treatments, which have become a celeb-favorite for a reason. One of our most popular lasers, Clear + Brilliant, not only improves the appearance of fine lines (and pores), but it also tackles heavy discoloration.
It works by creating microscopic treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin, thus replacing damaged skin with healthy tissue and yielding a younger looking appearance. To tackle a full face of hyperpigmentation, a series of six treatments is typically recommended, followed by quarterly maintenance.
Natural-Looking Lip Fillers
Plumping your pout is just about as mainstream as a skincare regimen. But unlike years past, today’s lip-filler goal is less about getting the Kardashian look and more about creating a fuller, natural-looking pout for you. Hyaluronic acid fillers, like Restylane Kysse or the RHA Collection are ideal for lip injections because of their water-loving properties (which means they’re not only going to make your lips look more naturally full, but they’ll also help your pout retain its moisture).
Remote Skincare Consultations and At-Home Treatments
During the COVID-19 pandemic, patients wanted to know how to care for their skin from home. And because of that, over-the-phone skincare consultations and our medical-grade products have become more popular than ever, allowing our aestheticians to support your efforts to maintain the best-looking skin in between appointments with us.
And while we welcome everyone to our office where we have implemented several new policies to encourage social distancing and reduce risk to the health of our patients and staff, we are always available over the phone to discuss treatments and at-home products that are best for you.
